Sunday afternoon naptime is common around these parts, especially for Barney.  He can get comfortable in a hurry and in just about any place, but this ottoman in the living room is a favorite spot for his napping.

In some ways it seems hard to believe I've had Barney for more than five years, but in other ways I find it hard to remember when he wasn't here.  He's a sweet and faithful companion, if also a bit hyper and overly attached to his mama on occasion.

The blur of Barney

 I'm taking a photography class this summer, trying to learn how to use my new Canon T2i camera that I bought recently. I've always wanted to learn more about photography, but I've never had anything other than a point and shoot camera.

Recently one of our assignments was to get some action shots. I was successful with some of them, but trying to capture Barney when he's running was beyond my limited understanding of shutter speed and f-stops.

Like most of the time when he's running, in this shot he was simply a blur! That's his favorite yellow ball in his mouth. No wonder he's running so fast--he doesn't want anyone else to have it. ;-)

I'm including this photo here, hoping that someday soon with a lot more practice, I'll be able to figure out how to capture him correctly.

      You can't blame Barney for trying to find a cool spot in the shade! We've had a stretch of 90-degree weather that's been pretty intense for the last week or so. And it's not even officially summer yet!
