Here's what's been keeping me busy between posts:
I found an interesting pattern at Knitty and thought I'd try it. It's called a Calorimetry. Something about heat escaping from your head. At any rate, it's supposed to keep your head and ears warm while letting you wear your hair up. I made these for my nieces since they often wear their hair up in various styles.
I used Moda Dea Tweedle Dee yarn. I thought the colors were pretty with the shadings that showed up through the piece. The first one is exactly according to pattern, and as most of the other knitters who did this said, it turned out HUGE. Wearable probably, but bigger than I wanted. The other one I just made smaller with the yarn left from the same skein.
Both could also be worn as neckwarmers--I've tried them out! Very toasty. :)
The other project I've just started is Fetching, a pair of fingerless gloves. I'm using a wool, microfiber, cashmere blend in a soft gray. It's the first time I've tried cables--these are probably the simplest cables you could do, so it's a good practice for me.
Evidently my sister is getting the knitting bug too. Go over and see what she's been up to.
Very neat, Aunt Bet! I like the purplish color, too. "Calorimetry" looks like a unique but simple pattern. I'll look forward to seeing it up close and wearing it.:)
