Following up on yesterday's cooking post: There are certain recipes that I always associate with certain people: Rhonda's Broccoli Salad, Deb's Chicken in a Biscuit, Karen R.'s Buttermilk Salad, Aunt Bunny's Louisiana Yummy, Mom's Fried Chicken (and just about everything else she fixes). But I don't think I have one specific recipe that I could call my best recipe. I think I need to find one!
Do you have a "signature dish"--one that you fall back on for company or that your family begs you to cook or that you love to eat? What one recipe or food could you just not live without?
I think I've grilled Southwestern Chicken (over salad) enough that it has become an anticipated signature meal in our house (at least almost year-round). And baked potatoes is another one although not eveyone is excited when they find out it's chili over baked potatoes yet again!
But I do think YOU have a signature dish...at least in my household's way of thinking when they think of you--sloppy joes--not exactly a fancy company meal, but still yummy. The kids around here always say, "Are you fixing 'Aunt Bet's' sloppy joes??? YEA!!!"

People always look for Texas Sheet Cake from me. It's so simple and so good.

Definitely Hot Browns. A quick check of my blog shows that I written about them eleven times in the last 2 1/2 years.

Deb, I'll have to post my Sloppy Joe recipe sometime. :)
Mike, how did I know you were going to say Hot Browns?? I'd never heard of them before reading your blog. I'm still hoping to actually try them one day.
Beverly and Katherine, Desserts are always good in my book. But Tammy, I'll have to think on the creamed spinach one for a while. :)
My only mistake here was not having everyone send me their recipes!

This comment is for Tammy: if I ever get a chance to visit and eat with you, could you pick a different signature vegetable than the creamed spinach? :)
And I've never heard of Hot Browns. Yes, Bet, you definitely should have asked for recipes!

How about Green Bean Bake or San Francisco Chicken for you, Aunt Bet? That's what I always think of. :)
