I know I'm probably the only one who suffers from procrastination on a regular basis. I procrastinate when I have cleaning to do, when I have papers to grade, when I have yard work to do, when I have to get ready to go somewhere. I think I've gotten worse as I've gotten older. No telling how bad I will be when I get as old as some of you. :-)
I recently read a tip on how to beat procrastination. The article in Psychology Today said to acknowledge that you don't want to do something but do it for 10 minutes anyway. After 10 minutes you can evaluate and decide if you want to continue. But once you're involved, it's easier to continue.
I think that makes sense since it's the getting started that is the really hard part:
The first minute of the easiest thing is 100 times harder than the 100th minute of the hardest thing.
What is your best strategy for beating procrastination? I'm willing to learn.
