Barbara over at Stray Thoughts recently tagged me for the “Four Word Meme.” Basically one person tags a few others to give their definitions or what comes to mind for four particular words. Then that person tags other people with four different words, and so on. I like Barbara's new name for this meme: “Do You Know What I Meme?” Clever, huh? :)
Here are the four words bequeathed me by Barbara: boggle, images, wheels and Bible.
boggle: I frequently use this word when I want to communicate my amazement, confusion or just awe at something. "That boggles my mind!"
images: ideas, thoughts, pictures in the mind. A favorite Southern expression is "she's the spittin' image of her mama!"
wheels: "Nice wheels!" (uses the ever popular synecdoche, a part for the whole) or "I can see the wheels turning"--which pays a compliment to the inner workings of someone's brain. I also think of the steering wheel of a car and a potter's wheel.
Bible: the Book of books. I often think of the quote, "you're the only Bible some people will ever read."
My choices for four new words to pass along to some of you to define in your own way are: work, play, faith and fall.
I'm not big on tagging people so if you are inspired to do this, let me know in the comments. But I definitely think it's something my sister should do. And maybe Beverly. And Melanie. And Andrea, if she's not too busy with wedding plans. :)
