Crazy, I know. But office work isn't my thing, even when it is in my field of writing and editing and proofing. Sitting at a desk from 8 till 5 is hard to do. I don't know how some people do it all the time. I guess summer jobs are different from jobs that you are invested in for a longer time. But still. I'm longing for the flexibility of my own class schedule. Working at night if I want. Finishing on the weekend. Going to the grocery store in the middle of the day. It's much easier to get my 40+ hours in that way for me than it is to be tied to the desk all day.
This week I'm spending a fair number of hours working with a group of 24 high school students who are on campus for a Media Camp. They're a good group, although quite diverse--from 9th graders to high school graduates, and from all over the country and beyond (one is from hong kong or singapore--why do I always get those two mixed up!?!!) Today we have a tour of our local paper scheduled, and one of the local NBC-affiliate news anchors will address the group this afternoon.
So after this week, there are only three full weeks of summer work before school starts again. I need to schedule a vacation REAL soon.
